  • Surgery is a very last resort. Beware if your doctor or a surgeon recommends surgery after having had it for less than 18 months. Likewise, using pain relief medication as a temporary fix to allow you to engage in activities may exacerbate your symptoms and can worsen your problem. Avoid cortisone     injections altogether as these can further damage the Tendon and surrounding tissues.
  • Be diligent and patient with your treatment and rehabilitation. Conservative treatments are only beneficial if you do them correctly and often enough. Be sure to follow instructions carefully, from how often to rest or stretch to how often you need to wear your orthotics if you have them. Be patient, it may take several weeks or even months to completely heal your heel.
